BEGINNING
I started composing music at the age of 13. In the beginning, I was writing songs; lyrics did not come easily to me and I often collaborated with relatives and musical friends during my teens and early 20’s. As I gradually became more comfortable on the piano, my improvising skills was becoming more apparent and I started exploring more on the piano with harmonies and melody. While touring in the 80’s I focused on my piano technique to help me explore even more on the piano as a player; diligently going through my scales and hanons in the mornings while waking up my roommates hearing my metronome clicking away.
A NEW SINCERITY
My touring days open new doors for me; particularly in music being expose to all kinds of influences and realize the one common thing I saw and felt; a universal sincerity in everything you see and feel. It is sort of a vibe or feeling or presence, experience whatever you call it; this is what communicates to our human spirit. I often notice this kind of sincerity with the bands or artists I was listening to during my road travels and still continue to do so especially with our current technology these days that making us global to communicate and listen to each other. I was starting to be able to see it in everything that I saw and felt; also in anything that was created may it be a product, person, concept, or whatever blows your mind; it is there communicating to you, wanting you to listen, feel, experience and sharing it to you making you wanting more. As I continue my journey to composing music or playing keys; or perhaps being part of producing something with another artist , I hope to create that same universal sincerity in what I do musically that I have seen and felt from those artists before me.
